Black Sage Road is also known as 71 St as it runs parallel to Highway 97, but on the other side of the Okanagan River that connects Vaseux Lake to Osoyoos Lake.  The road is also a link between the two communities of Oliver and Osoyoos which are about 30 kms (19 miles) apart.

The sun-baked south east bench has very deep sandy soil with fast drainage, but irrigation has transformed this desert landscape into green vineyards with impressive wineries.

Wineries along this South Okanagan wine route are:

Black Hills, Burrowing Owl Estate, Church & State, Desert Hills, Dunham & Frose, Hidden Chapel, Le Vieux Pin,  Jackson Triggs (Vincor), Oliver Twist, Quinta Ferreira, Silver Sage and Stoneboat Wineries.
