No elephants here, and no it is not an island. For that matter there are not even any grapes for making the wine! This winery is one of the few in the Okanagan that specialize in making wines from their orchard fruits like raspberries, cherries, apricots, crab apples, pears and currants using old world recipes.
(Check their website for some fabulous food recipes as well! http://www.elephantislandwine.com/lets-eat/main-courses.php)
The winery name apparently relates to a story about the owner’s grandmother who was an architect. When she tried to relate her building vision for the house on the Naramata property, her husband teased his wife for her obsession with aesthetics by naming the site “eye-land”.
The fabulous property welcomes and enchants its visitors. The courtyard (the true hightlight of the winery) creates a sense of family and connection with the land, and many guests feel nostalgic, as if visiting their own grandmother’s farm or orchard.
It is a family-friendly winery, offering a kid’s center to entertain children.
And what can be more family fun than a tree house? Yes, for rent above the tasting room there is a tree house with a spectacular deck and a lake view. The rates include weekly and daily options that are very reasonable for prime time in the Okanagan.
