Cape Town is Africa's most popular tourist destination and the second-most populous city in South Africa. It is the provincial and legislative capital of South Africa, with National Parliament and government offices situated here. The city is famous for its harbour and well-known landmarks Table Mountain and Cape Point. It is one of the most multicultural cities in the world and a major destination for immigrants and expatriates to South Africa.

Cape Town Airport, recently renovated to bring it into line with international standards offers an excellent entry point into South Africa. In South Africa it is advisable to hire a car as the public transport system is not so good or suited to the holidaymaker and not always reliable after hours. From Cape Town it is convenient to travel to surrounding places of interest or travel into the city for the day. Self-drive tours are a popular holiday choice with the visiting tourist.
