Chatan is a lively area of Okinawa, popular with locals, US military and tourists. It is located on the East China Sea coast and has a couple of beaches to keep holidaymakers happy. Watching sunsets over the sea are popular pastimes and several cafes take advantage of the view. There are numerous restaurants serving a wide variety of international cuisine, including Indian, Persian, Mexican and Japanese. Chatan has a thriving nightlife with bars, clubs and a movie theatre. Shopping is one of the most popular activities in the area and the range and variety of shops is staggering. Definitely a recommended area for visitors.
