Ellijay is the county seat of Gilmer County and the oldest continuously inhabited city in Georgia. Mentions of it are found in journals dating back to 1731. The county bills itself the "Apple Capital" of Georgia and has an annual Apple Festival to celebrate thier favorite fruit.
Scenery here is mountainous with streams running through its valleys. Orchards are planted on the softy rolling hills. In fact, a stretch of Highway 52 near Ellijay has so many orchards it is known as Apple Alley.
Gilmer County has three rivers and many creeks and is about half designated public land so naturally outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, canoeing or kayaking, fishing and swimming are a big component of the activities. The county is also known as the "Mountain Biking Capital of Georgia."
Describe the main aspects of Ellijay in general. Write in the 2nd person ('go there/when we went' instead of 'I went/this writer went/one can go'). Tell it as it is, but stick to the facts. Restaurant,
