Golden is situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, in what is known as the "Front Range". It is almost exactly halfway between Denver and Boulder. The last available numbers (2009) put Golden's population at 17,458. As Colorado's statewide population continues to grow rapidly, those numbers are probably more around the 20,000 mark now (April 2012).
Golden is home to several attractions, including Buffalo Bill's grave and museum, Heritage Square, Splash Aquatics Park, the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum, Coors Brewing Company, Clear Creek RV Park, Fossil Trace Golf Club, and the Colorado Railroad Musuem, among many others.
Golden is the county seat of Jefferson County, Colorado. It is well known for its many beautiful open space parks and hundreds of running and mountain biking trails.
