Hanover is divided into compass-point districts based on specific social or cultural characteristics. The most important piece is the Old Town, keeping the memory of the medieval city. The Southern part of town is the green lungs of the city and an important residential area for the middle-class. On Southern Fringe you can enjoy bathing in Ricklinger and Dohrener Masch. A former worker area, Northern Hanover is the realm of university students, with many cultural live events taking place all over the summer.
The Wstern part, Oststadt is one of the best place to find the trendiest pubs and restaurants.
Although considered lower in financial status, Linden is developing little by little into an attractive cultural hot-spot, with many restaurants and jazz bars created in the last decades.
