Add a Point to the Map

The Central Park, or Keskuspuisto, is a swathe of forest dissected by well marked tracks and allotments that extends from near the Olympic Stadium in central Helsinki to the northern boundary with the 'city' of Vantaa in the north. At various times of the year it provides soothing escape from the city for hikers, skiers, cyclists, berry and mushroom pickers, and horse riders. It's a reminder that Helsinki is unusually close to the unspoilt wilds of the countryside. A good entry point is behind the horse jumping stadium in the Laakso district. Another is the end stop of the 66 bus at Paloheinä, the start of pleasant forest walks including the route to the Pitkäkoski rapids on the Vantaa River.
