Founded by Michael Hunter in 1985, Hunter Publishing began as a publisher of guides to unusual destinations, places for which little in-depth information was available. Often they were the only resource available to travelers.
Today, the aim of providing readers with unusual travel books persists, with books like the award-winning Adventure Guide to the Yucatan. But Hunter has also expanded its horizons and now produces a comprehensive range of travel guides to the Caribbean, the U.S., Europe, South America and the far reaches of the globe.
The Adventure Guides, Hunter's signature series, is rapidly carving out a niche on the bookshelves. The series encourages travelers to be active in exploring their destination through adventures both cultural and physical. Everything you need is included, from where to stay to where to eat, activities, history and sightseeing.
Another successful line is our Alive series, which leads the traveler to the very best restaurants and resorts, also covering beaches, historical sites and more. The Alive Guides often cover destinations that are popular but seldom dealt with in other guidebooks, such as Rio, the British Virgin Islands, Aruba, Bonaire & Curaçao or St. Martin & St. Barts.
