Dpending on where you want to go, there are a couple of bus stations in Kota Bharu. Remember to ask which station your buses departs from when you buy the tickets.

The main bus station located in Kota Bharu's center is where buses to Terengganu, Kuantan and other relatively near destinations depart from.

Langgar Bus Station is for long-distance buses. If you're headed to Penang, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or other equally distant places, this is where you should be.

Bus #29 (RM3.80) from the main bus station takes passangers to Sungai Kolok, a border town in Thailand. The journey takes 1 hour.

Perhentian-bound travellers are strongly recommended to hire a cab to bring them to Kuala Besut jetty as the bus departs once a day, and that too at night. Each taxi costs between RM30-RM50, depending on how well you bargain.
