Not only is this a landmark of Ukrainian cultural heritage in Southern California, the building is an Art Deco dynamo from the Golden Age of Hollywood. As with so many of the older edifices in this part of town, looking beyond the tattered edges you'll discover some beautiful details. Word has it that the ladies room is straight out of a 1940s black and white movie, with its plush velvet curtains and full size primping space. Alas, it was occupied when I was there.
Inside you will experience the spacious banquet hall with proscenium arch stage. Holiday recitals, Ukrainian festivals, cultural classes, and the art gallery constitute some of the offerings. Special occasions include the Independence Day celebration (August 17) and the Malanka Zabava (New Year's Ball), which are also great times to sneak in for some great Ukrainian food. And if you're lucky enough to be invited to a Ukranian wedding here, be prepared to take an entire week off!
Describe the main aspects of Ukrainian Cultural Center. Write in the 2nd person ('go there/when we went' instead of 'I went/this writer went/one can go'). Tell it as it is, but stick to the facts. Do not enter another listing here; create a
