Currently, this is the world's first and only designated Thai community outside of Thailand. There are about 80,000 Thai people living in the L.A. area, and this is where they go to shop and socialize. Thai Town essentially extends down Hollywood Blvd., from Western to Normandie.
Thai Town began in the 1960s and was bestowed its special status in 1999. The district contains a plentitude of Thai restaurants, markets and shops, including import stores, silk clothing stores and the popular massage spas.
On the first Sunday in April, Thai Town celebrates Songkran, the Thai New Year festival, by closing off Hollywood Blvd. and setting up food stands and entertainment on the street, along with a colorful parade. Note that you might get wet, even very wet, as water spraying is part of the tradition.
Describe the main aspects of Thai Town. Write in the 2nd person ('go there/when we went' instead of 'I went/this writer went/one can go'). Tell it as it is, but stick to the facts. Do not enter another listing here; create a
