Mitsuwa is the largest Japanese supermarket in the U. S., carrying all food and beverage items imaginable from the Land of the Rising Sun. The supermarket is only one store in this indoor mall. The marketplace includes a general household store, mobile phone counter, cosmetics shop, beauty salon, video rental outlet, book/DVD store and food court with several cafes. Souvenir gift items can also be found here.
What drives people of all ethnic stripes here more than anything is the food court that serves as the vortex of the shopping complex. It's a round robin of five eateries, each specializing in an aspect of Japanese cuisine - sushi, ramen noodles, udon noodles, teriyaki dishes, and rice bowls. The food is fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced.
Spare yourself the jet lag of a long flight and experience a morsel of Japan right here.
From the Santa Monica (10) Freeway eastbound, exit Centinela Avenue. Turn left on Pico Blvd., pass Centinela to turn right on Bundy, which changes into Centinela farther down. The marketplace is on the left, just before Venice Blvd.
