Add a Point to the Map

Avid aviation aficionados and their kids should flock to this expanded facility. Just re-opened in March of 2012, the new Museum of Flying places emphasis on the rich history of aviation in Southern California. The Santa Monica Airport location was the birthplace of the Douglas World Cruisers, the first aircraft to circumnavigate the globe in 1924. The museum features the Douglas Aircraft Company and other pioneers in the field from the area.

The collection boasts important vintage planes, photo exhibits, artifacts, news clippings, and aviation art. The fun part is the children's interactive section with flight simulation, aircraft cockpits with training primers, plus hands-on demos.
