Ishidatami is found in a traditional Okinawan house that used to house Samurai from the time when kings ruled the Ryukyu Kingdom from Shurijo.  Its location halfway down the Stone Paved Path is perfect for a break for something to eat and drink. It is directly opposite the local town hall that is another place visitors are welcome to sit and relax for a while.  Especially helpful if you are climbing back up the hill.

The food served at Ishidatami is all traditional Okinawan, fresh and very tasty.  It is inexpensive and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing. The Goya Champuru (Bitter melon stir-fry) is highly recommended, as is the Zenzai for dessert.  Zenzai is made up of a pile of shaved ice with a sweet red kidney bean sauce poured over it and small mochi balls. Mochi are pounded rice balls and are very chewy.
