I just came across this review from Molly McHugh, who also has a guide available on GuideGecko:
Reading Cheryl´s "Parents Guide to Beijing" made me want to hop on a plane with my 11-year-old and go. The 'List of Attractions', 'Things to do Anywhere and Everywhere' and 'Just Plain Fun' sections each have accompanying photos that make China seem like a welcoming and attractive vacation option instead of a distant, inaccessible foreign country. The book is full of helpful practiful information also like what foods are available and a list of major subway lines accompanied by the tourist attractions found along their path. A good read for any parent pondering taking young children abroad to China.

Solange Hando, feature writer for China/S Asia on Suite101.com, had good things to say about Paents Guide to Beijing: "This new Parents Guide to Beijing offers sound practical advice and reveals a city full of exciting attractions for all the family."

Cheryl, I have frequently heard the advice "Don't drink the water", etc., about a lot of places in the world, but not about China specifically. What's are normal precautions for North American visitors to take?
Sorry my question's not about the sights and sounds! Guess food must be higher on my travel priority list, tee hee.
Thanks,
Jill
Drink bottled or boiled water. Bottled water is cheap and readily available; save some money by buying it a small shop rather than your hotel's gift shop.
