If you decided to chose Potsdam as your headquarters to various destinations in Germany, you will not regret your choice.
First and foremost, you are very close to the very energetic and active capital city of Berlin.
From Schönefeld airport you have regional trains and busses connecting you directly to Potsdam. If you land in Tegel, you can take the shuttle bus to the Berlin ZOO station. From there you have the choice of either the S-bahn S-7 urban railway or a regional train to the Potsdam main station. Potsdam is part of the Intercity and Regional railway system of the Deutsche Bahn. Long-distance trains stop at Berlin Zoologischer Garten station, from where you can reach the Potsdam main station within 45 minutes when you take the S-bahn urban railway. You'll get here even faster if you take a regional express train, which goes on to Magdeburg or Brandenburg/Havel.
Going to and from Berlin is very easy. You can take trains, the S-bahn urban railway, and buses. From Berlin, the S-bahn urban railway lines S7 and S1, as well as certain regional trains, will bring you to the Brandenburg state capital. Buses of the Havelbus Verkehrsgesellschaft in particular, offer connections to the areas surrounding Potsdam. Within Potsdam's inner city, you have the option to board any of the buses and trams run by the Potsdam VIP public transport system.
Very close to Potsdam, you can explore the Havel Lakes, with the Palace of the Great Elector and the house from Caputh, where Albert Einstein once lived.
Other interesting places, with nice landscape you can see from Potsdam are Beelitz (with the famous branded asparagus/spargel), Werder (with the blossom festival) or Prignitz.
The land of Brandenburg is a very pleasant destination, mostly during the summer and spring and you can discover there more than 140 manors and palaces.
Describe the main aspects of Potsdam Getting around in general. Write in the 2nd person ('go there/when we went' instead of 'I went/this writer went/one can go'). Tell it as it is, but stick to the facts. Do not enter listings here; create a
