Floating in the blue-green waters of the South China Sea, just off the east coast of Johor, are a cluster of islands part of the Seribuat Archipelago known as the Sibu Islands. Of these, Pulau Sibu Besar, or Big Sibu Island, is the most accessible as travelers can mostly likely find a resort here catering to their budget.

The north-eastern region of Pulau Sibu, where crystalline waters roll gently onto a golden beach, houses most of the island's accomodation, such as Sea Gypsy Village and Sari Pacifica. While the island does not see a large influx of tourists, visitors to Pulau Sibu are single-minded in purpose: sun, sand, snorkelling and scuba diving. As most of the topography of the region is formed from volcanic activity and is as shallow as 18 metres, divers and snorkellers can be assured of a safe experience. Resorts can arrange for diving and snorkelling expeditions, courses and equipment.
