Getting in by Boat

Ferry

Bluewater Express has a number of ferries daily to Tioman. Salang is the last stop, when the boat is usually more than half empty. Depending on the number of stops, the ferry from Mersing takes about 2.5 hours to reach Salang.

If you intend to leave as late as possible in the day, it pays off to shop around in the different chalets. Some operate their own boats that have later departure times than the Bluewater Express. These boats are only available directly through the chalets.

Sea Taxi

Sea taxis can take you to Salang from whichever village you are at. Prices range from 25 - 60RM from up till Tekek. It will cost more if you are coming from villages like Paya, Genting or Juara.

Getting Around

Salang is served by one main road and it's easy to walk from one end to another. There is actually probably no need to rent a bike even as the the length of the village can be covered in about 15-20 minutes one way at a leisurely stroll.

Bear in mind that the beaches on the north end are no good for water activities or sun-bathing so don't walk there with intention to do that.
