Werner's Oven Bakery & Restaurant

Werner's Oven Bakery and Restaurant is a restaurant and bakery specializing in German cuisine. It was started by a German couple, Werner and Nancy Hochbaum as a German bakery in 1988. Since then, the bakery has evolved into restaurant but still keeping its signature bakery.

At the bakery, one can find freshly made German bread and pastries as well as some local pastries. The restaurant offers one of the widest selections of German cuisine you can find in Singapore, even wider than the one at Paulaner. Almost everyone orders the Knusperiege Schweinhaxe, which is the popular German dish of crispy pork knuckle served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, when they dine here.

Some of the other recommended dishes include the Farmer's Sausage and the Schmorbraten, which is Beef pot roast served with spaetzle, dumpling and red cabbage. Take note that this is one of the few places in Singapore that serves Spaetzle, which is a common German home-made egg noodle. The muffins from the bakery are also recommended.

This place is popular among the expatriate community in Singapore and especially Germans living in Singapore. However, many locals also frequent the place to get a taste of German cuisine. Tables can get a little cramped and the chairs are a little uncomfortable so be prepared for these when you dine here.
