Located in Istana Kampong Glam, the Malay Heritage Museum is a small gallery museum space displaying the history and heritage of Singapore's Malay community. Stories are told through a small collection of historical artifacts, exhibits, multimedia, and diorama displays. One of the exhibits is a wall mural depicting the Kampong Glam fire in 1847.

Take a walk through the galleries and learn about the history and culture of Kampong Glam and the Malay community in Singapore. Viewers can also get a taste of the Malay culture that has developed through the years. View the typical living areas of a Malay family in two small dioramic displays.

There certainly is a broad range of topics covered in the nine galleries. However, they are without much depth. There is ample space to move around in the museum and it will only appeal to those very interested in the Malay history and heritage. The museum is not very popular and has a quiet ambience. The two dioramic displays of the Kampong House and the HDB unit, along with the section on Popular culture seems most interesting.
