Haji Lane is the place for fashionistas desiring an indie shopping experience in Singapore. You will enjoy this alternative place if you are into cult fashion or love original and unique items.

You will find homegrown fashion boutiques, Soon Lee and Victoria Jomo here. They mainly carry a variety of locally designed clothes and accessories for women. Look out for Salad and Pluck which are lifestyle boutiques offering quirky home furnishings. Pluck also has an in-house ice-cream parlour that serves interesting flavors. Know It Nothing has menswear only, and the colorful and loud The Haji by Paper People is an interesting stationery store.

Most stores on Haji Lane open after 1pm daily but the crowd and atmosphere is best after 3pm. Store assistants can be rather cliquish and service a drag.

There are also a couple of restaurants, which transform Haji Lane into a cozy chill-out corner in the evenings. Most serve Middle-Eastern cuisine in a relaxed setting. Walkways are laid with Middle-Eastern rugs and cushions where you can dine or smoke shisha. Al-Tazzag Egyptian Restaurant is recommended for dinner dates and large groups as it carries a quiet and intimate setting ideal for conversations. Also try the highly popular Blu Jaz Café, which spreads over three storeys and houses a restaurant and two lounges, with live bands playing pop-rock and jazz.

Haji Lane is popular with locals and tourists alike and gets very crowded during weekends, especially when one of the irregular flea markets is organized.
