An extremely popular local Chinese cultural festival, Pilgrimage to Kusu Island sees Taoists numbering in the hundred thousand heading to Kusu Island to pay homage and offer prayers for good health, luck, prosperity, joy, and peace to the shrine of Tua Pek Kong, The Chinese Merchant God or God of Prosperity, standing in Da Bao Gong Chinese Temple.

This annual event is held on the ninth month according to the lunar calendar.
