Singapore Zoo

Expect nothing but a fun-filled day at this award-winning zoo, touted countless times as the best in the world. With innovative concepts and exhibits, the zoo continues to impress visitors, even those second-timers.

Although it is located away from the city centre and far from the MRT, one would appreciate that it is located amidst a reservoir and secondary forests. Food and beverage options include ice-cream, local food, fast food, pizzas and other international cuisines. Food kiosks are aplenty, stocked with snacks and drinks. An interesting option is to have breakfast with the orangutans.

You can choose to explore the zoo by foot or tram ride. The map provided is easy to navigate with suggested routes and information on animal shows and feeding times. The trams have a clear commentary and provides a relaxing way to enjoy the zoo.

Animal rides provided include pony rides, horse carriage rides and elephant rides. There is also a boat ride which takes you through Seletar Reservoir.

Feeding shows are aplenty with some occuring at the same time. Animal shows are animated and engage the audience. It is an absolute treat for kids although adults might find some lines delivered a tad too cheesy.

Heavy on conservation, each animal exhibit points out the danger of extinction and what can be prevented.
