This food centre is located at the north end of Scotts Road and has been promoted by the Singapore Tourism Board as an ideal tourist attraction to sample local cuisine. First opened in 1971, the food centre underwent a major renovation in 2005 before reopening in July 2006.
As there are about 83 (!) stalls, repetition is inevitable. One major criticism of this food centre is that the prices charged are higher than what you would usually pay for similar food elsewhere. A positive point to take note of is that touting is no longer a common sight as the National Environment Agency of Singapore has come down hard on stalls that tout.
Some of the recommended dishes include seafood and Oyster Omelettes.
