Some post publication queries

Hi Daniel,

There were certain areas where I needed some information!

Due to some issues with the Government of India, Kingfisher Airlines which was operating flights to Mysore, has suspended operations and is not flying on any of the sectors. This is likely to be a temporary problem, but unlikely to be sorted out within a month. Should I make the change on the pages of the Mysore Guidebook on the Guidegecko pages.
Also, in case I make additions or need to remove something, shall I make it on the pages of GuideGecko or how shall I go about it.
When there are changes, are they automatically reflected in the ebook?
I also notice that the ebook is being distributed by Barnes and Noble, WH Knight, kokobooks etc.Is there any way of knowing if there has been any sale?
Re: promoting the ebook, can you pl direct me how to provide the link to the main page on Guidegecko and the Guide Book? I had sent an article to Ezine on Wayanad as Wayanad is one of the attractions around Mysore which I have featured in the guide. I am attaching the link here http://ezinearticles.com/?Wayanad-in-Kerala---Paradise-in-Gods-Own-Country!&id=7317073..
Pll let me know if I should provide this link on the main page of Guidegecko and the ebook. Is there any other link that I should mention in subsequent articles!
Thank You and Warm regards,
Bhagyalakshmi.

Hi Bhagyalakshmi,

Regarding accounts: I assume you refer to this accounts page: https://www.guidegecko.com/account

This page is updated in real time, i.e. whenever someone buys a guide. Please note that this page only lists sales for PDF guides that are sold directly on GuideGecko.com. Your eBook is sold in ePub format, via our distribution partners (e.g. on the Amazon Kindle store, etc). Therefore, the accounts page above does not apply to you - it will not have any sales.

For our distribution partners, we receive sales with a delay of about 2 months (sometimes even longer). We keep track of your sales, and then pay you according to our publication agreement, when your revenue has reached a certain level. For your eBook, we haven't yet received sales numbers. It takes a while.

Regarding changes: Yes, the changes will appear in the app, but not in the eBook version. An eBook is not "auto-updatable", much like a printed book in the bookstore.

Regarding ad revenue: We definitely need your AdSense account. The advantage for you is that you get your ad revenue directly from Google, and you have full access to all the statistics directly from Google as awell. For example, you can use this information to improve your guide and your earnings. I don't know why Google turned down your AdSense application. Obviously, I can't help on this - but you should be able to get in touch with Google directly?

Best,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
As you must be aware, there have been two changes in address and web site details of one of the yoga schools that has been listed in the guide. I have made the necessary changes, based on the feedback from the yoga school, on the web pages. I hope I have done it correctly.
If my understanding is right, the changes will reflect only on the app when it comes out and not on the ebook. Am I right?
It would also be nice to know if there has been any movement on the sales. As you had said the account page is updated only in a month's time and so it shows zero!
Also, the agreement mentions ad revenue. I don't have a Google ad sense account and it has been turned down twice. Any suggestions?
Thanks and regards,
Bhagyalakshmi

Yes, please make the changes.

When there are changes, are they automatically reflected in the ebook?

All changes that you make on the website will be reflected in the app automatically, whenever users tap the "update" button.

Unfortunately, such an update mechanism is not available for eBooks. For the eBook, we would need to distribute a whole new edition (which is the same as publishing the first edition).

> I also notice that the ebook is being distributed by Barnes and Noble, WH Knight, kokobooks etc.Is there any way of knowing if there has been any sale?

We keep track of sales for you, and pay you when your balance reaches US$100. For more details, please see the publishing agreement on http://www.guidegecko.com/userhome. The sales report we get are 1-2 months delayed. You can email me from time to time, and I can let you know where you stand.

Always use the guidegecko.com/... links that we provide you. These are permalinks that do not change, even if the stores change their internal link structure. I see in your article that you have used the Kindle link correctly.

For the link to the website: I'd provide a link to the starting page of your guide, i.e. the main Mysore page in your example.

Hope that helps!
Daniel
