Toilets in Thailand

The good news is that public restrooms aren't difficult to find in Thailand - especially in bus and train stations and covered markets - and usually they're quiet clean. More often than not you'll be expected to pay to use one (typically 2 to 5 baht, a little more if you need toilet paper). Free toilets can be found in temples and department stores.

Toilets may be the kind you need to squat over; Western-style toilets you can sit on are quite common. Don't depend on toilet paper being provided, so always carry some with you.

Not many Thais understand the English words "bathroom" or "restroom." However, if you ask for a "toilet," you'll likely be understood and pointed in the right direction.
