Karen's guide has just the right amount of info to motivate any traveler heading to the galapagos. It's packed with tons of info on how to get there, where to go, what to do, and even info about what to expect.
He amount of pages is made up by the quality. It's very fllling and satisfying like a meal fit for a traveler.

I was ready to book a tour to the galapagos when I came across this guide and because of it I've changed my mind and am heading to the Galapagos alone and full on backpacking without the groups and agencies

This book, has lots of good intentions but lacks detail. All it offers is one persons detail of what they did, It could be enhanced by offering different ideas and options. Or even if there were clear names and locations of places, boats, tour companies, restaurants, ect. For value for money download the chapters from a well known guide book company.

Hi Turtle, thanks for your comments but I think you have missed the point. This is called The BUDGET Lovers Guide to the Galapagos Islands. Of course you can do other things on the islands but I have purely focused on things that are free or for people on a budget. If you want more expensive options or cruises you are better to look at other guidebooks. The intention of this book is not to offer tours or boats. I think I have most of the BEST free and low cost things in the book you can do on the islands. I have focused on the highlights where you will see the most wildlife. Lonely Planet etc doesn't have any more details on free things to do or addresses but if you have found something please write to me and I will include it in the guidebook. Re details, well the islands have street names but nobody uses them and Isabella has no street names at all so details such as addresses are redundant. That’s why I have written instructions for how to get there rather than addresses. Remember this is the Galapagos Islands not a big city!

Did u take an 8 day cruise and then do this land base exploration by yourself? I plan to take a dive trip which is very expensive and plan to stay on the island to do a bit of land tour. I'm hoping this book is the answer to not spending another fortune?

I did an 8 day cruise then realised most of the things you see on a cruise you can see by yourself (a lot of cruises spend half the tour on the three main islands anyway which are easy to access by yourself). I stayed on the islands for a week after and researched the ebook. You could also do a day trip to one of the more outlying islands if your budget allows. I make recommendations as to which islands and what you will see on each one.
