In artistic terms, Weimar is associated with the beginning of the Bauhaus movement. The city was the headquarters of this impressive school of arts and thought between 1919 and 1925 when Walter Gropius moved the school at Dessau, under the pressure of the Nazi regime. Although you will not find too many buildings in Bauhaus-style in the city, you will find various academic chairs and art school dedicated to this movement and teaching new generations of architects and artists all over the world.
